There's not much to playing roms on the various emulators the Dingoo A320 has to offer. However there are some things that might snag you when starting out. This small article should help to clarify a few things & have you playing games in minutes.

The first thing you should do is plug your Dingoo into your PC via the provided USB cable. Your PC should automatically detect the device and you'll be able to browse its contents, in a similar fashion to a flash drive.

From here we will do some prep work before we upload any roms. Navigate to your Dingoo's 'GAME' folder and make sure that the following folders are present. Create any missing folders as necessary:

  • 3D
  • A320 Overclock
  • CPS1
  • CPS2
  • GB
  • GBA
  • LYNX
  • MAME
  • MVS
  • NES
  • SEGA MASTER SYSTEM
  • SEGA MEGA DRIVE
  • SNES

Now we're ready to start filling those folders with roms! You can source your own roms or download them from the Roms section of this site.

Your Dingoo should have come pre-installed with 7 emulators, those being:

  • Capcom System 1

CPS1.SIM

  • Capcom System 2

CPS2.SIM

  • Game Boy Advanced

GBA.SIM

  • SEGA MEGA DRIVE

MD.SIM

  • Neo-Geo

MVS.SIM

  • Nintendo Entertainment System

NES.SIM

  • Super Nintendo Entertainment System

SFC.SIM

I recommend downloading the Emulators package from this site as it contains improved versions of the Sega Mega Drive & Neo-Geo emulators, as well as four new emulators for the Atari Lynx, Nintendo GameBoy (mono & color), Mame and Sega Master System/Game Gear.

Roms must be in the following formats:

  • 3D Games & Applications

.app

  • Capcom System 1

.zip

  • Capcom System 2 (roms with XOR tables required)

.cp2 (use converter available here)

  • Game Boy (mono & color)

.gb & .gbc

  • Game Boy Advanced

.gba & .jgc

  • Atari Lynx

.lnx

  • MAME

.zip

  • Neo-Geo

.mvs (use converter available here)

  • Nintendo Entertainment System

.nes

  • Sega Master System/Game Gear

.sms & .sg/.gg

  • SEGA MEGA DRIVE

.smd

  • Super Nintendo Entertainment System

.smc

Emulation in general is pretty good. I've found that the CPS2 & Neo-Geo emulators run a lot smoother with overclocking (place the overclocking app in the 'A320 Overclock' folder you created above). The Snes emulator is probably the worst of them all yet still runs a lot of games just fine. Setting frameskip to 1 or 2 on the Snes emulator improves things a great deal.

The way that the Dingoo works is great. It works on a file association system meaning that you don't need to load an emulator first and then select a rom. Selecting any rom in the file browser will automatically execute the corresponding emulator for that rom. Load roms from the 'Interesting Game' menu selection.

The '3D Games' folder is used to load applications that have the file extension .app. 3D games must be run from the 3D folder as does Mame4All and the overclocking application, or any other application for that matter.
