If for whatever reason you brick your Dingoo, meaning that perhaps all you see is a white or black screen and your Dingoo refuses to load & is frozen, relax. The Dingoo is virtually impossible to brick permanently (only a hardware fault would be a show stopper) and a bricked Dingoo may be un-bricked via a flashing tool.
Download the un-bricking tool from the Downloads -> Tools & Utilities section of this website.
You will also need a firmware file which can also be downloaded from this site.
Please note that all data on your Dingoo will be wiped during this process, back up if possible.
The Dingoo A320 has two types of controllers for its LCD screen. Which one you have will depend on how old or new your Dingoo is. You need to know which version of the LCD driver you have in order to flash your Dingoo. To establish which LCD driver you will need to use, go to the about screen of your Dingoo and press UP, RIGHT, DOWN, UP, RIGHT, DOWN. You will see either 'ILI9325.DL' or 'ILI9331.DL' - remember which one you have.
If you bricked your Dingoo before establishing your LCD type, take a guess. If you have an older Dingoo, you're likely to have the 'ILI9325.DL' driver. If it's relatively new, you will most likely have the 'ILI9331.DL' driver. You won't do any damage by selecting the wrong driver, the flashing tool simply won't work. So do a bit of trial an error until you find the driver that does work and take a note of it for future reference.
The first thing you need to do is install the required USB drivers. Run the Dingoo Flasher.exe and press the large 'Install Driver' icon on the top left hand side, wait for it to finish. Do this before connecting your Dingoo to your PC.
Now set your Dingoo to flashing mode. Do this by holding down on the 'B' button when powering on (or you can hold down the 'B' button whilst the Dingoo is turned on and hit the reset button). The screen of your Dingoo will remain black and no indication is given that the device is in flashing mode.
Plug your Dingoo into your PC via the provided USB cable. Windows should prompt you to install new drivers, manually install them navigating to the drivers within the 'usb_drv' folder of the un-bricker tool download. It should register the device as a ChinaChip driver. If Windows does not prompt you to install new drivers, un-install whatever drivers are currently installed for the Dingoo A320 device and start again.
In the burning tool dialog select your System DL Config file (the one that corresponds to your LCD driver that we established in the first step). Now select a Firmware file (a .HXF file which can be download from this site). Now hit the Burning System button. The words 'Firmware Upgrade...' below a purple ball icon should now appear on your Dingoo screen. The process can take up to 5 minutes, do not touch or disconnect your Dingoo until the procedure is finished. Your Dingoo will reset when the procedure has finished, boot into the native firmware and should display the USB connection screen.
Windows will once again recognise the device and you will be able to access the Dingoo's flash memory.
Your Dingoo will be wiped clean of all data (aside from firmware and a basic folder structure) and you will have to re-add any files that were on it before it was bricked. |
